Michellino comes from a successful dressage lineage, his sire Michelangelo and grandsire Ulft.  Michellino has been one of the most used breeding stallions of the Danish Warmblood book due to his progeny which possess very expressive and supple gaits, a very effective 'motor' and elegant and noble exteriors.

Best stallion-father of trakehner broadmares 2000 + 2001 + 2002!
GZW/153 (Trakehner Hefte 3/03) currently 11 approved sons!

Michelangelo's career at stud has had quite a few outstanding moments.
Celebrated sons were presented at approvals in Germany, The Netherlands
and Denmark.

Out of his first foal crop, the champion stallion Kennedy and the
premium stallion Guy Laroche resulted. Michelangelo's son Michelino,
bred in the Netherlands, is a successful sire in Denmark. In 1998, two
Michelangelo-sons were approved in Germany: the reserve champion
Hirtenruf and Kensington, full brother to Kennedy. Monteverdi, champion
stallion in 1998 is also a son of Michelangelo's dam Miami.

Also in 1998, Michelangelo produced the champion mare at the central
inspections in The Netherlands. His daughter Schneeflocke, the highest
priced auction mare in Neumünster, placed 4th in her age-group at the
National Mare Show (all breeds) in Neustadt-Dosse, Germany. In 1999
the Michelangelo-son Hölderlin was approved and in 2000, his son
Summertime was awarded a premium title at approval. Michelangelo is
also the dam's sire of the Trakehner Grand Champion mare Lantana.

In 2001 the Oldenburg premium stallion Mon Dieux by Michelangelo was
approved.

Champion black stallion Trakehner available for German sport horse breeding program Trakehner Michelangelo for German sport horse breeding program

His pedigree stands for excellence, solid and prepotent traits. His sire,
the thoroughbred Pasteur xx, produced a number of outstanding dressage
horses and furthermore, is the Sire of the Century Stallion, Mahagoni.

Michelangelo's dam is the highly decorated premium, state premium and
elite mare Miami by Matador.

Michelangelo's main characteristics include a certain extravagance and
superiority. Trained and placed up to the highest level in dressage (advanced),
this Anglo-Trakehner is a top stallion in every aspect. Michelangelo is one of
the most influential sires of the Trakehner breed in our time. In 2000 and 2001
he was the leading sire in a ranking regarding the inspection scores of
registered daughters. Athleticism and nobility in combination with other
dominant traits such as type, distinguished conformation, and brilliant
movement in all three gaits are the main characteristics of Michelangelo's
offspring, ensuring them a great future in competition as well as breeding.

Approved in Neumünster in 1987, Michelangelo passed an outstanding 100 day test for his Dutch owners in Warendorf, Germany, in 1988. His scores: dressage index: 126.30, jumping index: 114.41, overall index: 126.62. He placed 3rd out of 17 stallions in his group. As a performance horse, EH Michelangelo had wins and placings at S level dressage. Over 50 daughters have been inspected into the German Verband Main Mare Book, and many of them with premium scores. For 5 yeears in a row, EH Michelangelo had the highest breed index of all Trakehner stallions (based on inspection scores of his daughters), with an overall index of 145. EH Michelangelo died in the summer of 2008. We only have very limited numbers of straws available - with proven results in North America!

Offspring:

Michelangelo has the following approved sons: Michelino (DK; dam by Ulft), Mon Dieu (Old; dam by Donnerhall), Jaguar (KWPN, dam by Nurprimus), Kennedy (dam by EH Mackensen), Kensington (dam by EH Mackensen), Hirtenruf (dam by Ginster), Guy Laroche (dam by Lucado), Hölderlin (dam by Märchenprinz), Summertime (dam by EH Arogno), Kensington (dam by EH Mackensen) and Contrieu (dam by Memelruf). He is furthermore the dam sire of the newly approved Contis (by Interconti), the KWPN approved Westpoint (by Jazz), the Trakehner stallion Sir Arthur (by EH King Arthur TSF), UB40 (KWPN, by Olivi), and several other KPWN and Trakehner-bred stallions.

He is the 2nd sire of e.g. Lantana (dam of 2004 champion Le Rouge); direct sire of Schneeflocke (dam of the approved Sir Arthur); sire of Kolomba (ATA Grand Champion Mare, Conroe, TX 2005); and Sixtine *M* (ATA Grand Champion Mare Columbus, OH 2006), as well as several champion mares across Germany and the Netherlands. His son Kennedy is dam sire to the champion mares In Vita, In Zukunft, and In Farbe as well as the two approved stallions In Petto and In Flagranti (Champion in 2003). He is the grand sire of the 2006 NMS champion stallion Songline (by Summertime), who was sold at auction for 320.000 €.

Michelangelo produced the following competition horses (just a selection): Just Mickey (Team Bronze Medal 2005 European Dressage Championships, Olympic Games Athens 2005) for Sweden; Trakehners Xion and Passero, FEI dressage; Trakehner Estephan, international driving horse; Trakehners Diablo, Hölderlin and Shalimar, CCI eventers as well as the approved Jaguar, a S level show jumper (ZfdP, Bavaria). He is also the grand sire of the 2009 European Team Silver medalist Mistral Horjis (Laura Bechtoldsheimer, UK) and the WBSFH ranked international dressage horses Max, Milan, Mitchell Imhoff, and Monet. The up-and-coming KWPN stallion Westpoint (by Jazz) is also out of an EH MIchelangelo dam.

Heritage

The sire line of Pasteur xx has produced a series of international caliber dressage horses and although Pasteur xx died young, his influence even today is tremendous. His son Mahagoni can be named as the most important dressage sire in the breed after WWII, as several of his offspring ended up as international competitors of outstanding quality, e.g. the Olympic bronze medalist Peron TSF for the USA, Chronos for the Netherlands or Marlon for France. Pasteur xx also stands for the exceptional sport horse line of Enrico Caruso-Kostolany and his amazing son EH Gribaldi, champion of his approval in 1995, international Grand Prix winner with Edward Gal for the Netherlands, long listed for the Athens Olympics 2004 and the world's most popular warmblood stallion with yearly breeding numbers of appr. 350 mares on average. In 2001, this black stallion covered over 800 mares!! Via Kostolany, Pasteur xx also produced the grey stallion Silvermoon, the sire of the popular Cadeau and the shooting star of the 2006 dressage season worldwide, the Danish warmblood mare Matine, who won three medals at only 9 years of age and awed the crowds with her exceptional movement and suspension.

EH Michelangelo's mare family is that of O49A Mira, a line that has also produced the top young dressage star EH Monteverdi TSF and the third Miami-son, Miami Vice. From the same mare line, the Trakehner breed also profited from Morgenglanz *E*, a leading dressage horse sire, and the impeccable Marco Polo, who sired a number of international caliber show jumpers, especially in the Netherlands. His most famous grand son Milton was the world's most successful international show jumper in the late 80s and early 90s under British Michael Whitacker. The line also produced Mozart *E* and the Impuls-son Mikado.

The dam's sire Matador was one of the leading sires of his time, stationed at the Verband-owned stud in Birkhausen. He was a black stallion of great built and beauty and understandibly one of the most popular stallions, but his influence through his many sons is very small. The only noteworthy male line still intact is that through his son EH Tipperary, a sire of Grand Prix dressage horses. Matador's strongest influence clearly came through his daughters, apart from Miami also through Helena, dam of EH Hohenstein. Another Matador daughter with influence in North America was Havel, who produced several good brood mares and also exceptional sport horses, like the Young Rider North American Champion in Eventing, Herzprinz/A. Calder ot the USEA HOY at preliminary level in 2004, Huronia/D. Chiacchia. Also the ATA approved Horizon comes from the same mare line (Halensee) and out of a Matador daughter in a combination with Pasteur xx blood. His sire Marlon was a full brother to Mahagoni.

And a quote from a Swedish WB breeder  from Sweden

<<Your mare has a Swedish motherline. Magnat was Swedish and his father Barbarossa has one of the best stallions as his father, Novarro. An old Swedish breeder once said to me, if you have Novarro anywhere in the pedigree then it is a very good horse.>>

Dansk Varmblod (the Danish Warmblood Society) has, for generations, been breeding sport horses of international standard and reputation. Even prior to formation of the Society's breeding standards program in the 1960's, Danish breeders had registered the country's bloodlines in a succession of horse Board stud books, dating as far back as 1894. During the last 35 years the Society's breeding program have been focused on developing world-class bloodlines especially suited for dressage and jumping competition. A foundation stallion of the Spanish Riding School of Vienna's Lippizaner line was a Danish stallion named Pluto. The recent prevalence and success of Danish Warmbloods in international Grand Prix and Olympic events attest to the success of Dansk Varmblod's strict grading and breeding policies.

Building on a foundation of Danish-bred horses used for work, military use and in the Royal Stables, Dansk Varmblod have introduced bloodlines of Holstein, Hanoverian, Trakehner and thoroughbred origin from Germany, Sweden, Poland, Holland and England into 3 distinct studbooks: "DS" for the majority of graded animals,
"DH", containing the better-scoring mares & stallions, (Alino Queen's designation) and "EDH" containing the highest-scoring "elite" mares & stallions. Mare and stallion gradings are held annually, where new candidates for the stud books are subject to stringent grading for movement, temperament, and conformation, (including OCD-negative verification), both loose and under saddle.

Danish Warmbloods form part of the Danish, German, Swiss, British, Norwegian, Italian and Australian national and international teams in dressage, show jumping and eventing. It is interesting to note that many standing Danish stallions remain international competitors, and Dansk Varmblod requires that a stallion or his progeny compete successfully in international competition in order to retain their breeding license.
